Unity Engine C# Sparkling Society

Zoo Life is one of the newest games from Sparkling Society Games that branches into a new area of ‘city building’. In this game players can build and manage their zoo, take care of their animals and collect animal cards.

A little about the project

In Zoo Life, the player is given a zoo to manage. Start from the ground up, expand and create a place that people love to visit. This is the first Sparkling game that starts to branch out to the more tycoon/management gameplay.
The game is free and can be downloaded on the major app stores, including the Microsoft Store on PC. It has amassed over 1.5+ million downloads since its release in 2022!


My Role

This Sparkling game is special to me. It was designed (both art and gamedesign) by my friend and former colleague Tess, and I played a major part in laying the groundwork for the game project's tech.
Once the project got greenlit, I started out as the sole developer laying the foundation (based on an existing codebase) for the new gameplay and systems this game would have. At first it was for the prototype, which was more focused on getting features working roughly as designed so they could be tested.
Not long after the project was started, more resources became available which gave us more development power. I stuck around doing development work with the team and functioned as a technical lead until I moved on to a more global technical role within the company.

It's really cool to see so many core systems and features that you set up, being used in the final product with new features even being built on top of it.
